Dr Gerald Craddock
Dr Craddock heads up the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design, a statutory body established by the Irish Government. He lead the research on a national review of Assistive Technology in 6 countries including Ireland. He is an expert evaluator for the European Commission’s research and innovation programme Horizon 2020. He is past president of AAATE. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals as well as continuing as a visiting lecturer at the University College Dublin. His qualifications are Electronic Engineering degree, a Postgraduate Diploma in Social and Vocational Rehabilitation Management, and a PhD in Disability Studies.
Dr Larry McNutt
Larry is currently the Registrar at ITB and a member of the senior management team of the Institute.
Larry has over 35 years’ experience in the Higher Education both in Ireland and Australia with 15 years Senior Management experience as the Head of School of Informatics and Engineering at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown from 1999-2014. From 2014-2016 he was seconded full-time to the TU4Dublin Support Team (www.tu4dublin.ie).
Prior to joining ITB in 1999, he was a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Technology Tallaght, Dublin and has held academic positions in Southern Cross University Australia, Letterkenny IT, DCU and Capella University, USA. He is a Fellow of the Irish Computer Society and is a member of the board of AHEAD (https://ahead.ie/) and his research interests and publications include distance education, educational technology, instructional design, computer science education and universal design for learning. Larry studied computer science in University College Dublin (UCD), and hold a Master’s degree in Education (Multimedia) from the University of New England, Australia and an Doctorate in Education from NUI Maynooth, where his work explored the habitus of educational technologists.
Donal Rice
Senior Design and Policy Advisor on ICT, Centre for Excellence in Universal Design at the National Disability Authority, Ireland
Dónal Rice is a senior design and policy advisor on ICT for the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design at the National Disability Authority, Ireland. He recently returned to the Centre from a secondment at the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. At IHREC he managed implementation of the new Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty (Section 42, IHREC Act 2015). He has worked on international policy development and education projects with the European Commission, and UN agencies such as UNESCO and the ITU. He has authored policy and research reports for the ITU, UNESCO, the European Commission and the IITE on accessibility. Dónal has been an evaluator of FP6, FP7 and more recently Horizon 2020 projects. He is undertaking an LLM by research with the Centre for Disability Law and Policy at NUI Galway and lectures on the LLM in International and Comparative Disability Law and Policy.
Dr Brian Campbell
Professor in both the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, and the Faculty of Education at UOIT
Brian Campbell joined UOIT as a founding faculty member in 2003 as the Associate Dean for Social Science. As Associate Dean, Brian was responsible for new undergraduate program development in the social sciences, including college-university pathways. In April 2006 he was appointed as the first Dean of Graduate Studies at UOIT and facilitated the development and external review of over 30 graduate programs across all faculties at the university, as well as guiding and managing the development of graduate studies policies and procedures. In 2009 Dr. Campbell’s administrative appointment was renewed and Associate Provost was added to his title. This new title was partly in recognition of his broader role in policy and administration as well as his expanding responsibilities in academic labour relations. In January 2015 Brian left his administrative roles and resumed his fulltime faculty appointment. Before coming to UOIT Brian was at Mount Allison University from 1983 until 2003 where he was twice Head of the Department of Sociology & Anthropology.
Dr. Campbell is a sociologist whose interests include the sociology of experts, social inequality, educational attainment, technology diffusion, and higher education. He has a B.A from the University of Guelph, a B.Phil. from York University in the UK, and a PhD from McMaster University
Dr Cormac Doran
Joint Director of the Centre for Higher Education Research, Policy and Practice
Dr Cormac Doran is Joint Director of the Centre for Higher Education Research, Policy and Practice. Formally the Head of the Humanities Department at ITB, Cormac’s research interests are in the areas of youth in education, learner analytics and performance in higher education. As well as being a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Cormac also acts as an Adjunct Professor in UOIT.
